Thanks for any help.
Down firing car sub into carpet.
The advantages i saw to down firing was getting the woofer away from my ear the cone was about 15 away when it was direct firing.
Today in the irc chatroom ericduckman wants to know if putting his down firing subwoofer on carpet is going impede the quality of sound.
My assumption is that in that case i should specifically avoid a down firing subwoofer because the floor would just absorb the sound.
I m really just looking for confirmation that my assumptions are correct.
How do you get perfect carpet seams when wrapping a subwoofer box with carpet.
Scott wilkinson and chris boylan have an answer.
A down firing subwoofer box produces a domino effect if placed inside a room.
Find out in this video.
After that the ceiling comes next.
You also have to leave 1 4 to 1 3 of the cones diameter for clearance other wise you will run into cancellation issues.
The domino effect starts because of the shaking of the subwoofer box.
Since the floors connect to the walls they re also going to shake.
This trick works not only for wrapping a sub enclosure.
The floor is carpet on carpet pad on cement foundation.
My family room is fairly small 15 x 12 and carpeted.
I just ordered a pswi 225 down firing wireless sub.
And since the shaking directly affects the floor the floor starts shaking.
I have recently built a center console for a f 350 with 4 8 focal utopia be subs firing down with slot ports firing forward into the dash.
