They don t come in through your exterior walls and they have a really hard time breathing in your attic or anywhere that is outside of the water.
Do silverfish get in attic insulation.
I ve read the websites about silverfish and what they like etc.
Since insulation is found in the attic generally one of the least trafficked spaces in the home it can certainly become home to these and other pests.
I found silverfish in my attic.
What would you do.
I think they are coming from the attic since that s the only place i can t really treat.
The silverfish ingest the boric acid when they groom themselves or eat the insulation which causes them to die.
I read online that they are not of any health concern so maybe i should just forget about it.
Would you recommend removing all the paper and then calling an exterminator.
Silver fish are not generally an attic pest.
2nd floor is where we see the most mostly in the bathroom and our bedroom next to the bathroom.
We usually don t see silverfish on the 1st floor.
Further since insulation can also be a meal for silverfish in and of itself it is not uncommon to see silverfish infestations that are concentrated in the attic.
Homeowners may not know that silverfish are there until the problem is already quite bad.
The attic is often a good choice for them because it is not dehumidified by the ac in the summer or the heat in the winter.
Unfortunately these pests are nocturnal.
