Do Front Load Washers Need Pedestals

A laundry pedestal is an accessory that goes underneath your front load washer or dryer.

Do front load washers need pedestals.

They are pricey though. There are two main benefits to using a laundry pedestal. Pedestals in my opinion are just marketing genius. We are building a house and need to decide before the sheetrock goes up whether or not to have pedestals for our front load washer and dryer so they can be flush against the wall.

We haven t had front load before. First it raises your appliance off the floor by 12 16 inches making it easier to reach inside the wash bin. You do not need a pedastal. Your washer can sit right on the floor however if you had a pedestal you can store items in it and it makes washing and drying a lot easlier by not having to bend over.

I figured dryers have been front loading all my life and i never had a pedestal for my dryer. Why do i suddenly need pedestals now that my washing machine is a front loader.
